We know visiting a new church can be intimidating, and it's important to us that you feel comfortable and at home when coming to UPUMC for the first time. So, below, please find some of the most common questions asked by our first-time guests. We hope you'll find some answers here, but if you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to reach out.

What are services like?

Services include music, scripture reading, prayer, and proclamation. Pastors, worship staff, and church members lead all UPUMC worship services.

Where do I go when I arrive?

We have entrances at all corners and sides of the church. Our map provides a general guide to finding your way around our church if you want to sneak a peek before you get here!

Are children and youth welcome in worship services?

Yes, we encourage children and youth to attend our worship services. If you prefer to attend services without your child, childcare is available from 8:30 AM - 12:15 PM for infants through 4 years old. Sunday school is available for children ages 3 through 5th grade from 9:45 - 10:45 AM. Additional information about childcare is available here. Our youth typically meet in the Youth Center upstairs at 9:45 AM and attend the 11 AM service with their friends.

Where do I park?

We have three parking areas available for Sunday and weekday visits. Parking is located along the south side of the church on Caruth Blvd. and in a parking lot with an entrance on Pickwick Avenue on the east side of our building. Additional parking and a covered, handicap-accessible entrance are located on the north side of the building. The entrance to this lot is off of Preston Road. Handicap-accessible parking spaces are available in each of these parking areas.

What should I wear?

We do not have a dress code for our Sunday worship services. Most wear business or business casual attire, but what’s most important to us is for you to feel comfortable.

Are your services traditional or contemporary?

Our morning Sanctuary services (8:45 and 11 AM) are traditional. Our Upper Room Worship service (5:15 PM in the Youth Center) is contemporary. We will occasionally offer special services based on seasonality and special events within the church.

How long are services?

All worship services are approximately one hour. Following the morning services, there is coffee and a time for fellowship in the Gathering Area.
