HERE'S WHAT TO EXPECT

We know visiting a new church can be intimidating, and it's important to us that you feel comfortable and at home when coming to UPUMC for the first time. So below, please find some of the most common questions asked by our first time guests. We hope you'll find some answers here, but if you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to reach out.

COMMON QUESTIONS

What are services like?

Services include music, scripture reading, prayer and proclamation. Services are led by Senior Pastor, Rev. Joe Stobaugh.

Are children and youth welcome in worship services?

Yes, we encourage children and youth to attend our worship services. If you prefer to attend services without your child, childcare is available from 8:30 until 12:00 for infants through 4 years. Sunday school is available for children ages 3 through 5th grade from 9:45-10:45am. Additional information about childcare is available here. Our youth have the option of meeting in the youth center downstairs at 9:45am and attending the 11:00am service with their friends.

Where do I park?

We have three parking areas available for Sunday and weekday visits. Parking is located in the front of the church on Caruth Blvd and in a parking lot with an entrance on Pickwick Avenue on the east side of our building. Additional parking and a covered, handicap accessible entrance is located on the North side of the building. Entrance to this lot is off of Preston Road. Handicap parking spaces are available in each of these parking areas.

What should I wear?

We do not have a dress code for our Sunday worship services. Most wear business or business casual attire, but what’s most important to us is for you to feel comfortable.

Are your services traditional or contemporary?

Our services are mostly traditional. We will occasionally offer special services based on seasonality and special events within the church.

How long are services?

Worship is approximately one hour. Following each service, we offer coffee and a time for fellowship in the Gathering Area.
