United Methodists are very intentionally connectional people. We want to help connect people’s passions with the needs of others. At University Park UMC, we are committed to this, whether it’s connecting people with needs in the neighborhood, or places around the world. We stand by to help you get better acquainted, acclimated - connected - to the calling God has within your life. Your presence is a gift to our church family. My prayer is that our church family will be a gift to you.

Peace and Blessings,
Dr. Keith Boone
Senior Pastor

About Sunday School:

University Park United Methodist Church offers a variety of Sunday school classes for people of all ages. From birth through adulthood, our Sunday school classes seek to bring faith to life through Biblical study, fellowship, service to others, and care and support for each other. Whether a child or student, married or single, with or without children at home, church member or guest, we provide support and a firm foundation for a Christian lifestyle.

All Sunday School classes meet  from 9:45-10:45 a.m., between our two worship services. Most children's classes meet on the first floor, and most adult classes are on the second floor. Guests are always welcome. If you'd like to speak with someone about visiting a class or would like a member to host you, please call us at 214-368-1435.

Welcome to Youth Ministry at UPUMC

Youth Calendar

Sunday School, 9:45 a.m.

Jr High 6-8 grade (unless enrolled in Confirmation)

The purpose of our Jr High Sunday school is to equip the youth with scriptural basis for the trials of faith they face. We focus on learning the scripture and thinking critically about what we can learn about God through its words. Recent Studies:

  • Collaborate by SparkHouse: A Study of the New Testament
  • The Bible a fact-checking look at the History Channel Series
  • Coming Up April - May: "Uncommon": Sharing Your Faith & Serving Others

Sr. High (grades 9-12)

Sr High students continue to build on their scriptural readiness while discussing how the theology relates to life. In this class the goal is to prepare them for answering the tough questions of faith. Recent studies:

  • Collaborate by SparkHouse: A Study of the New Testament
  • Coming Up April - May: "Can I Ask That?" Series by Fuller Youth Institute

UP Youth, Sundays 5 P.m.

This opportunity is designed to connect us deeper as a community. Together, we eat, play, and then slow down to share how life is going. We experience different ways to pray and seek the bigger questions about life, faith, and practice.

Long term, our goal is to have youth help lead their peers in this time, as well as during special events. We will be providing leadership training in the coming months, and utilize our leadership team.

Currently, Sunday nights you can expect to have the following experiences:

  • Hearing/Sharing Stories (about past life events, mission trips experiences, etc)
  • Time to eat and laugh together
  • Share high and low points from your current life situations
  • Worship together through creative ways
  • Invitations to mission activities

This opportunity is designed to connect in small settings, often outside the church walls. We meet at Starbucks and in homes.Contact Beth Johnson for details,
