X-WR-CALDESC:Enjoy watching Finding Moana at home then discuss our question
s together as a family and in Sunday school on Sunday morning. \n\nDISNEY'
 S MOANA MEETS THE GOSPEL\n \nFAITH @ HOME DISCUSSION\nIdeas like 'restorat
ion'\, 'belovedness' etc are so abstract for our concrete-brained friends.
Stories are here to help! Jesus himself used stories\, based off daily li
fe\, to make the gospel more accessible. He helped make the abstract more
concrete.\n\nWe encourage you to watch 'Moana' with your family this weeke
nd. Not only can this movie spark interest in oceans and islands\, but it
can also provide time to explore following God's call and the concept of r
estoration. \n\nHere are a few discussion questions you can use to engage
in conversation. Pick any that are helpful for you child's age:\n \n1. Wh
ich parts of Moana did you enjoy? \n2. Was anything scary to you? \n3. Wha
t makes Moana so courageous? \n4. What was Moana passionate about? How was
she able to serve others with her passion? \n5. What are you passionate a
bout? How could God use this to serve others? \n6. Recall when Moana says\
, “I have crossed the horizon to find you. I know your name. They have sto
len the heart from inside you…This is not who you are. I know who you are.
” Let's read some Scripture where God says something similar. What sticks
out to you in this Scripture? ( read Psalm 139:1-4\, 13-14 together)\n7. H
ow does Moana deal with wanting to stay on the island and be a good leader
for her people but also wanting to listen to the voice inside her telling
her to explore the ocean? \n8. Follow up with: Sometimes God speaks to
us like a voice inside\, encouraging us to explore doing something to make
the world better. Share any stories of times you have had this happen. \n
