United Methodists are very intentionally connectional people. We want to help connect people’s passions with the needs of others. At University Park UMC, we are committed to this, whether it’s connecting people with needs in the neighborhood, or places around the world. We stand by to help you get better acquainted, acclimated - connected - to the calling God has within your life. Your presence is a gift to our church family. My prayer is that our church family will be a gift to you.

Peace and Blessings,
Dr. Keith Boone
Senior Pastor

Local Residents Honored With UNA-USA Lifetime Achievement Award

Bill and Norma Matthews Recognized for Their Commitment to Strong U.S.-UN Relations

DALLAS (June 8, 2016) – On Monday, June 13,  Bill and Norma Matthews of Dallas will be presented with the Albert Goodman Award for Lifetime Achievement, given by the United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA). The award recognizes Mr. and Mrs. Matthews for their commitment to strong U.S.-UN relations and will be presented at a ceremony at the United States Institute of Peace office in Washington, D.C.

“Bill and Norma Matthews are most deserving recipients of the Albert Goodman Award for Lifetime Achievement,” said UNA-USA Dallas Chapter President David Reid. “Through their decades of dedicated service with UNA-USA, Mr. and Mrs. Matthews have been passionate advocates for peace and justice throughout the world.”

The award will be presented to Mr. and Mrs. Matthews during the Annual Leadership Summit of UNA-USA. More than 400 UNA-USA members, activists, and student leaders will gather in Washington, D.C. for three days of experience-sharing and workshops, consultations, meetings and receptions. The Summit will culminate with an Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill, with more than 150 constituent meetings by UNA-USA members with their House and Senate representatives.

The award is named after a Wisconsin-based advocate for the UN and UNA-USA, the late Albert Goodman of Racine, who was a chair of the Wisconsin Governor's Commission on the UN.

In addition to this award, the Dallas Chapter of UNA-USA will be recognized at the Leadership Summit with the Earl W. Eames, Jr. Communications Award. This award is presented to the Chapter or Division that has demonstrated innovation in communications. The award is a tribute to the late Earl W. Eames, Jr., former president of UNA of Minnesota who was appointed to positions with UNIDO, UNDP and the World Bank.

The Dallas Chapter of UNA-USA will be involved in World Refugee Day events on June 11 and 18 and will be actively engaged in a new UNA refugee initiative to be announced next week at the Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C.
