Scheduling of Weddings

 The scheduling of a wedding is arranged through Kathy Champion. She will explain the details of all policies and procedures. She can also be reached by phone at 214.368.1435. Members of University Park United Methodist Church may reserve UPUMC facilities as far in advance of the ceremony as they wish. Nonmembers may schedule their weddings up to nine months prior to the ceremony. To qualify as a member, the bride, groom or parents of the bride or groom must have been active members of UPUMC for at least one year at the time of scheduling.

Facilities Available
Sanctuary - Capacity:  685 including balcony and transept, 450 excluding balcony and transept.                    

Chapel - Capacity:  20

Receptions
Fellowship Hall is available for wedding receptions for members only. Please note that no alcoholic beverages may be served.

Fees
Wedding dates will be confirmed after we receive the application and half of the fee as a deposit. The balance of the fee is due one month prior to the date of the wedding. 

Wedding Director
Our wedding director, Kathy Champion, is available for pre-wedding consultation in regard to the details of the rehearsal and of the wedding. Only our wedding director, in cooperation with the officiating minister, will conduct the rehearsal. Due to the nature of planning a worship-filled wedding ceremony, we do not plan wedding ceremonies with outside wedding consultants as a substitute for the bride. It is the responsibility of the bride and groom to work with the minister and church director in planning their wedding.

Officiating Minister
Only an ordained deacon or elder in the United Methodist Church may officiate weddings at UPUMC. The officiating minister may invite another ordained minister to assist. Any other person assisting in the service must be approved by the officiating minister. The order of service, scriptures and all bulletins must be approved by the officiating minister and organist.

Rehearsals
Rehearsals will be conducted exclusively by our staff wedding director, in cooperation with the officiating minister, if he or she is present. Rehearsals must begin promptly. If a wedding party is more than 15 minutes late to a rehearsal, it may result in the cancellation of the rehearsal.
