Loving Self - Loving Neighbor
Robert L. Foster, preaching

Friends,
Advertisers tell us innumerable times a day to take what we deserve: the vacation I deserve, the automobile I deserve, the new insurance for the car I deserve, the service that I deserve others do for me, just today, the new phone service I deserve. Consumerism depends in no small measure that I learn the habits of loving myself, in increasing measure.

The gospel of Jesus Christ states that the greatest commandment includes: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Christians do not doubt the beauty of this idea but we also know the difficulty of putting this into practice. Loving Self, Loving Neighbor is our next series at The Bridge, starting January 1. We will explore the ways to move from this good idea about loving our neighbor into practices that express that love in concrete ways in the church and the world. After all, the center of the gospel story tells of Jesus, who gave himself away to the world.

Come join us for this series starting this coming Sunday. Let's keep working together to bridge what we confess in worship to our service in the world.

Peace,
Robert Foster
