Scholar-in-Residence


Robert L. Foster, Ph.D., Scholar-in-Residence
Robert joined the UPUMC staff this year to share his Biblical research and his passion for empowering the local congregation in mission. He received his doctorate in Biblical Studies from SMU. In his staff position he will continue to teach adult Sunday School classes regularly and preach occasional sermon series. He continues to as an adjunct instructor at Perkins School of Theology and United Theological Seminary (Dayton, Ohio).

 

 

 

Adult Ministries

 

The Rev. J. Richard (Dick) Wilson, minister of Adult Spiritual Formation
Dick has been at UPUMC since March 2003, when he joined the staff as the minister to Children and Their Families. In January 2008, he moved to be the minister of Adult Spiritual Formation. He earned a bachelor's degree in Christian education from Texas Wesleyan and a master's in religious education from St. Paul School of Theology, Methodist. He has been active in the Christian Education Fellowship, locally and nationally, serving on national conference design teams for several events.    Linda Durbin, assistant to Connecting Ministries and Adult Spiritual Formation
Linda has been part of the UPUMC staff since 2004. She supports Dick Wilson and Blair Thompson, posts worship attendance and serves as a receptionist. Hers is usually the face that will greet you at the Welcome Center desk on Sunday mornings. Previously, Linda spent 16 years as an assistant buyer for women's shoes at JCPenney's corporate headquarters. She is a Dallas native and member of Fellowship Bible Church of Dallas. Children and Families Ministries 

The Rev. Rachel Baughman, minister of Children and Families Ministries
Rachel joined the UPUMC staff on Aug. 1, 2007. She spent the previous 10 years in leadership roles for various children's and youth ministries in Texas and New Jersey. She earned a bachelor's degree in Christian education from Texas Wesleyan University and a master's degree in theological studies from Drew Theological School. She was ordained in 2005. Rachel and her husband, Mike, have four children: Griffin, Bekah, Sylvia and Thomas. E-mail Rachel.

Jenny, a UPUMC member since 1999, joined the staff as an assistant to the Rev. Rachel Baughman in June 2009. She and Dave, her husband, were married at the church in 2000. They have two children, Kate, 7 and William, 3. Jenny is an SMU graduate who taught fifth grade in Highland Park before staying home with her kids. She loves traveling and spending time with her family. E-mail Jenny.

Youth Ministries

Neil Moseley, minister to youth and families
Neil joined the staff in June 2009. Neil grew up in Wesley United Methodist Church in McKinney, where his youth leaders instilled a deep love for missions. He received a B.A. in philosophy from Texas A&M University, then returned to Dallas to begin his church ministry with the youth of Highland Park UMC while attending Perkins School of Theology. He earned a Masters of Theological Studies in 2005 and began focusing his work in missions and education.
