Global Missions

The purpose of global mission work is two-fold. It enables disciples to act out their faith by visibly demonstrating their Christian love to others, and it provides a conduit for God's work in the world as we act as the hands and feet of Christ in service to others. We believe that through partnerships with other churches both here and abroad, we can benefit from an ever-expanding faith community that permeates the walls of this church. We can all be actively helping to build the body of Christ at home and around the world.

     Our Guatemala Mission
The team of 15 UPUMC members and four members of our partner church in Bratslava, Slovakia, spent
10 days in Guatemala in July 2006. Read their blog.

Proyecto Abrigo
UPUMC sends a multi-generational team to Juarez, Mexico, twice a year to work with the ministry of Proyecto Abrigo. Trips usually occur over Martin Luther King, Jr. Weekend in January and Columbus Day Weekend in October.

"In Mission Together" Partnership with Bratislava UMC in Slovakia
UPUMC has been in a partnership with Bratislava UMC since 2000. As part of the partnership, UPUMC provides financial support for their church. Bratislava UMC is a church that is strong in spirit and has survived despite 40 years of communist rule. In this partnership, our congregations work to encourage and build up each other so that we may continue to grow our hearts in the mission of Christ.
