2008 Amigas de Amor

Join the women of UPUMC and Highland Park UMC for the 2008 Amigas de Amor mission experience with Amor Ministries.

The Basics

  • An all-women home-building experience with Amor Ministries, Oct. 2-6 in Juarez, Mexico.

  • $375 covers everything excluding travel to and from El Paso.

  • Connect and reconnect with amazing women from all over.

  • See the world in a new way.

  • Stretch your heart and your muscles. (Warning: You may be sore from laughing a lot!)

  • Be amazed at what you can do.

  • Be amazed at what God can do.

We still have room, so the registration deadline has been extended. Pay your $175 balance or the $375 total trip fee online

Southwest Airlines flies direct from Dallas to El Paso. Be sure to book your departure flight to arrive in El Paso before 1 p.m. on Oct. 2 and your return flight to leave El Paso after 2 p.m. on Oct. 6.

Mark your calendar for a team meeting at 5 p.m. Sept. 7 at UPUMC, and a team dinner at 6 p.m. Sept. 28.

But, you say …

But I have no construction experience. Not a problem. The building process is very simple, and we’ll have experienced leaders every step of the way.

But I don’t have tools. Not a problem. We’ll have everything you need on site.

But I don’t speak Spanish. Not a problem. It’s not essential, and we’ll have Spanish speakers among us.

But I won’t know anyone. Not a problem. You’ll know lots of people by the end of the trip, and we hope you’ll invite a friend or several from your church or community.

But I’ve heard Juarez is dangerous. We’ve heard that, too, and some areas may be. We’ll be staying in a secured compound in Zaragosa, a suburb east of the city proper. The Amor Ministries staff is always with us, and we’re always in groups. In 20 years, we’ve had no issues.

But I don’t have a passport. Not a problem. You’ll need a photo ID along with a copy of your birth certificate or voter registration card. But you might as well go ahead and pursue getting a passport ... for future out-of-country mission opportunities!

But it’s date night. Trust us, he’ll appreciate you even more when you get back!

But I have small kids/big kids/no kids/the dog at home. Trust us, you’ll come home stronger, better, happier, whole-er. That’s good for everybody!

But I’ve heard it’s really rustic. Umm, OK, you got us on that one. It is kinda rustic. But good-rustic. You’ll have the option of staying in a dorm or a tent. Think slumber party. Think fun.
