Senior Life Ministry
University Park United Methodist Church has over five hundred members 65 years old or older. Ministry to them is vital both to the well-being of the church and the spiritual development of each member. The vision for this ministry is being designed to capture and create opportunities for their collective wisdom, knowledge and education for the advance of God’s work here at the church and within the community.
A message from the director
Now that summer is upon us, when the days are getting longer and warmer, and we pull back into the comfort of our air-conditioned homes, let us not forget nor neglect that the world is still with us and that God still expects us to be His people. We can best do that by staying alert to the needs around us. Remember, God does not take a vacation. He is here for us regardless of the season and we should be here for Him regardless of the season. It’s also a time for prayer and reflection and reading a good book. The church library is here for you, so allow me to suggest a few books that I think you would enjoy:
• Awake by Noel Brewer Yeatts• Extraordinary Grace by Gary Chapman• The Clown in the Belfry by Frederick Buechner• Wounded Prophet by Michael Ford• The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch
Summer is also a time for joy. Joy in the fellowship of one another, joy with family and friends, joy for the opportunity to worship and praise, and joy in knowing that we are here for God’s purpose.
